If you have plans to rent a car this fall, consider this article your cheat sheet.
New data from cheapcarrental.com ranks the most expensive locations across the country to rent a vehicle between September and November of this year.
And surprisingly, the destination that will set you back the most for rental expenses is Little Rock, Arkansas.
That’s based on a comparison of car rental prices at 100 U.S. airports. Data from the survey conducted by cheapcarrental.com showed that the average daily rate for a rental at Bill and Hillary Clinton National Airport in Little Rock is $95. And that’s for the cheapest car on the lot.
It seems car rental rates in Little Rock have risen by about 20 percent compared with the fall last year. That’s well above the increase nationally for the same time frame, which was just 0.5 percent compared with 2023.
The runner up in the costly car rental ranking is Charleston, South Carolina, where a vehicle rental will set you back $91 per day. Madison, Wisconsin came third with a daily rate of $87 for the most affordable car.
If you’re looking for a locale that won’t bust your budget, Cheapcarrental found that the cheapest destination for renting a car this fall is Raleigh, North Carolina. Renters there will spend just $41 on average.
