October 4, 2024Cunard Collaborates with Acosta Danza – Cunard’s Queen Victoria ship will be hosting the critically acclaimed Cuban ballet company, Acosta Danza, onboard during a special six-week residency from May 26 through July 7, 2025, bringing the beauty of ballet to the high seas.
Acosta Danza, which was founded by the renowned dancer Carlos Acosta, will perform two exclusive shows onboard for guests, which will be announced later. They will also hold workshops and panels in the ship’s Royal Court Theatre for fans, while the biographical film Yuli: The Carlos Acosta Story, will be available to watch onboard as well.
Acosta Danza has been nominated, along with four other companies, as Best Mid-scale Company for the National Awards given each year by the dance section of the UK Performing Arts Critics’ Circle. Carlos Acosta is nominated in the Outstanding Creative Contribution category for the concept of the show “Black Sabbath_The Ballet”, created for the Birmingham Royal Ballet, a company that the Cuban dancer also directs. The nominations for the United Kingdom National Dance Award include the best dance shows that have been presented on stages in that country, between January 1 and December 31, 2023. The winners were announced at a live ceremony, held at The Coronet Theater in London, on Monday 3 June 2024.

On Cunard, guests will be able to enjoy sailing to destinations like Rome, Valletta, Cephalonia, Dubrovnik and Barcelona during the 14-night Italy and Adriatic sailing, while also getting to experience Acosta Danza’s combination of traditional and contemporary ballet styles, with an influence from Cuba’s rich musical and dance culture.
The itinerary begins in Civitavecchia, from which guests can visit Rome, and ends in Barcelona. It begins at $1,809 per person.
