Planning successful, memorable meetings and events requires a maestro’s touch. With Meliá Hotels International (MHI) and its symphony of brands designed for meetings, planners can curate flawless meeting and event experiences, time and time again as well as in hassle-free fashion.
The MHI Promise
No question about it: Different groups have different needs. As the largest Spanish hotel group with a diverse portfolio of more than 400 properties across 40-plus countries, MHI meets these needs—and then some—“conducting” gatherings to achieve resounding success. No matter which of nine Meliá Hotels International hotel and resort brands they select, planners will find a brand—and a venue—that suits and complements the vision for their meetings and events while ensuring that every detail resonates with attendees and appeals to their sensibilities.
A Leader in Sustainability
But the “music” doesn’t stop here. Beyond exceptional hospitality, MHI stands out as a leader in sustainability. According to S&P Global’s Sustainability Yearbook 2024, MHI is the most sustainable hotel company in Europe and the third most sustainable hotel company in the world.
It’s no surprise that in addition to its honored recognition by S&P Global’s Sustainability Yearbook 2024, Meliá Hotels International not only has a great reputation for meetings, but has also been named by TIME magazine as the most sustainable company in the tourism sector for 2024, ranking 114th globally. This well-earned accolade highlights MHI’s aggressive commitment to sustainability, further demonstrated through its Ecostars certification, which evaluates hotels on environmental management, energy efficiency, and sustainable practices. Several hotels in Asia have achieved high Ecostars ratings.
MHI’s focus on environmental responsibility aligns perfectly with organizations’ values, and its Travel for Good Program, along with its dedication to Net Zero events, enables planners to be confident that their meetings and events have minimal environmental impact.
The Travel for Good Program, a strategic approach to sustainability, calls for:
• Designing and renovating hotels to make them more sustainable and efficient;
• Continuing to reduce emissions and the environmental footprint, using green energy;
• Using water responsibly in all locations;
• Reducing and recycling waste;
• Biodiversity—protecting and conserving the ecosystem in every location in which MHI operates hotel(s) or resort(s);
• Training and development—educating employees about MHI’s corporate culture and values;
and much more.
Additionally, MHI has unveiled Road to Net Zero Events, a program designed to measure, reduce and offset the carbon footprint of events held at its properties. Developed using the company’s own measurement technology and created in conjunction with Creast, a firm that specializes in assessing, reducing and offsetting the environmental impact of events, the Road to Net Zero Events program calls for:
• Meliá calculating events’ carbon footprint at the time of quote and upon their conclusion based on carbon emissions derived from accommodations, meeting rooms and food/beverage consumption.
• Assisting event organizers in making environmentally responsible decisions given their first-hand access to emissions avoided by choosing Meliá properties.
• Initiatives by Meliá Hotels International to offset the carbon footprint of all events held under the program umbrella.
The program is currently available for large-scale events held at 12 Meliá Hotels International properties in the Caribbean and Europe, including the Paradisus Palma Real (Dominican Republic), Meliá Madrid Princesa, Meliá Valencia, Meliá Palma Bay, Meliá Milan, Meliá Paris La Defense and Meliá Frankfurt, as well as at the Meliá Barcelona Sarriá and Meliá Berlin, where it was pilot tested prior to rollout. It will be introduced at other Meliá properties over the next few months, with the objective of inception at all hotels where the MICE segment represents a significant portion of the market.
Global Luxury Redefined
Looking for a meeting venue with an incomparable level of sophistication, where exquisite venues meet top-tier service? Multiple MHI brands fit the bill, catering to planners and attendees with discerning tastes.
State-of-the-art meeting spaces, complemented by impeccable service and world-class dining, distinguish Gran Meliá Hotels & Resorts properties. Ideally situated in quintessential cities, as well as in captivating beachfront settings, these 18 venues accommodate groups in a collective 4,212 guest rooms, with 794 additional guest rooms in the pipeline.
With 18 multifunctional rooms spanning more than 17,000 square feet of event space as well as an ideal location adjacent (and connected to) the Palau de Congressos de Catalunya convention center, the new Torre Melina Gran Meliá, with 391 rooms and suites, sets a high bar for meetings and conventions in Barcelona. A rooftop venue with 360-degree views of the city is ideal for exclusive cocktail parties, while other features include two stunning outdoor swimming pools, a private lounge, a gym and a wellness center.
Also new in Europe—and an equally top-notch choice for the MICE market—is Palazzo Cordusio Gran Meliá. The first Meliá Gran property to open in Milan, the 84-room hotel accommodates small groups in three meeting rooms with a collective 103 square feet of space ideal for boutique-style events. Its location in Milan’s city center, close to the Duomo square and the Quadrilatero della Moda, allows it to offer a gateway to Milan’s great cultural heritage. Dining options serve up Italian and international cuisine with sensational panoramic city views.
Gran Meliá Hotels & Resorts are found in seven countries around the world—Argentina, China, Indonesia, Italy, Spain, Tanzania, and Vietnam—providing planners with a myriad of meeting and event destinations from which to choose. The menu of luxurious options will soon expand to include an additional four properties—two in Albania and one each in Mexico and the United Arab Emirates.
Seamless presentations and productive sessions, fully supported by functional spaces equipped with modern technology, are the norm at The Meliá Collection of hotels. From London, Majorca, Milan, and Paris to Tenerife (Spain), Ngorongoro Crater, Tanzania, Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and in between, properties that comprise The Meliá Collection are not known only for their iconic location in historic city buildings, remote destinations, or breathtaking natural enclaves; they are also renowned for affording the perfect balance of comfort and sophistication. All hotels are a great fit for guests and groups that prefer to hold or attend meetings and events in singular luxury boutique hotels rather than large chain properties.
It’s easy to inject a vibrant energy into gatherings when they’re held at one of MHI’s stylish ME by Meliá hotels, where groups have access to a total of 1,320 rooms spread across six countries. All eight properties stand apart from the pack, touting trendy locations—including Barcelona, Cabo, Dubai, Ibiza, London, Madrid, Milan, and Sitges (Spain)—along with innovative design and a comprehensive suite of cutting-edge technology. All of this adds up to truly unique, inspiring meeting experiences.
There’s more to come. The ME by Meliá portfolio is in expansion mode, with six additional hotels slated to open in Guadalajara, Guangzhou, Lisbon, Marbella, Malta, and Sayulita (Mexico).
Flawless execution of events amidst breathtaking natural beauty, luxurious accommodations, carefully selected team-building activities, world-class dining and striking architecture, planners and attendees enjoy nothing less at Paradisus by Meliá properties, where every event is beyond memorable.
All eight all-inclusive Paradisus by Meliá hotels are located in exotic destinations, with four properties situated in Mexico, two in Spain, and two in the Dominican Republic. In fact, they are destinations in themselves offering a unique blend of natural beauty and modern luxury, providing an idyllic backdrop that enhances the overall experience. Beyond the event itself, Paradisus by Meliá offers a range of activities and amenities that cater to the diverse interests of your attendees. These resorts feature state-of-the-art convention centers and versatile event spaces designed to accommodate a variety of event sizes and styles. From elegant ballrooms to beachfront pavilions, each venue is equipped with cutting-edge technology and audiovisual equipment to ensure your event runs smoothly and effectively.
