Geographic Expeditions (GeoEx), a leader in curated luxury travel experiences, has unveiled a tour to Egypt during the 2027 solar eclipse. “Egypt’s Eclipse: Ancient Sands & Cosmic Stories” itinerary is a 10-day adventure that explores Egypt’s antiquities and wonders, timed to the solar eclipse on Aug. 2, 2027.
The trip starts in Cairo to explore the city’s rich history and continues by air to Aswan for a two-masted wooden dahabeya private sailboat trip on the Nile toward Luxor. In Luxor, guests will be able to witness the total solar eclipse from a private rooftop on one of the tallest buildings in the village.
The view from the building also shows the grandeur of Luxor’s ancient landscape, the sweeping Valley of the Kings where many royal pharaohs are buried, and the dramatic cliffs that cradle the Temple of Hatshepsut. The itinerary’s final stop is a visit to the Temple of Hathor and a final celebration in Dendera before returning to Cairo for flights homeward.
Additional luxury accommodations include the five-star InterContinental Citystars Cairo in Heliopolis and Hotel Al Moudira, a tranquil boutique hotel reminiscent of an oriental palace, on the West Bank of the Nile in Luxor.
The Geographic Expeditions Egypt Eclipse journey is guided by Egyptologists and Trip Astronomer Ed Krupp, the director of Los Angeles’ Griffith Observatory. The trip is priced at $22,250 per person and is now available to book with trip dates from July 27 to August 4, 2027.
GeoEx has over 40 years of industry experience in executing curated journeys and timeless experiences. Led by experts, each trip offers once-in-a-lifetime experiences beyond well-known sites to discover destinations’ hidden gems in rare, visited countries like Iraq and Algeria or little-explored regions of more popular destinations, such as Shikoku Island in Japan, Cambodia’s Cardamom Mountains and Ladakh in India.
“This journey is a testament to GeoEx’s commitment to delivering unparalleled travel experiences that blend exploration, education and wonder,” said CEO, Brady Binstadt. “From the cultural richness of Egypt’s ancient sites to the awe-inspiring solar eclipse, this itinerary is designed to inspire and transform.”
