African Safari: Kenya and Tanzania by Collette small group Explorations tour offers travelers an intimate journey through East Africa’s most renowned wildlife destinations.
The 14-day adventure features 12 game drives across two countries, with departures beginning February 8, 2025, starting at $7,202 USD per person.
“Collette’s African Safari: Kenya and Tanzania gives travelers an authentic, intimate safari experience,” said Jaclyn Leibl-Cote, chief executive officer at Collette. “Our Explorations tours are designed to capitalize on the more intimate group size. In this case, we’re able to take advantage and use six-person safari vehicles to get around during the journey.”

The tour maximizes time at each destination through multiple-night stays, allowing travelers to fully immerse themselves in the region’s wildlife and culture. Highlights include visits to the Ngorongoro Crater, known for its dense mammal population, and a two-night stay at Safari Lodge against the backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro.
Cultural experiences feature prominently in the itinerary. Visitors connect with local communities through visits to two tribes at Lake Eyasi and explore the Shanga Workshop, where citizens with disabilities create artisanal pieces. The tour also includes a stop at a bead factory that employs and trains single mothers as jewelry artisans.
Film and literary enthusiasts will appreciate visiting the famous farmhouse from “Out of Africa,” where guests can hand-feed Rothschild giraffes. The journey spans iconic locations including Nairobi, Amboseli National Park, Karatu and the legendary Serengeti, where travelers spend three nights surrounded by abundant wildlife.
Throughout the tour, participants enjoy carefully selected accommodations and 38 meals, including five picnic lunches during game drives. The safari experience focuses on seeking out Africa’s Big 5 while traversing the picturesque Kenyan savanna and Tanzania’s renowned Serengeti plains.
Additional stops include the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust and Tarangire National Park. Travelers can also customize their experience through a Choice on Tour option, selecting between visits to a local fruit vendor or craftsman.
This Explorations tour represents Collette’s commitment to providing authentic travel experiences, combining wildlife encounters with meaningful cultural interactions. The small group format ensures personal attention and optimal wildlife viewing opportunities throughout the two-week journey.
