Mashie Golf Institute in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, the brainchild of Chris Griffin – with support from his dad, Rob – is an indoor golf facility that preaches “you practice how you play.”

Located in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, the self proclaimed “Golf Capital of the World,” Mashie Golf Institute boasts three state-of-the-art simulator machines, plus additional bays to practice your swing and also features a practice putting green. Coming soon will be a “man cave” – or perhaps more appropriately, a “people cave” since women are more than welcome. In fact, the women’s golf team as well as the men’s golf team from Coastal Carolina University utilize Mashie Golf Institute as their indoor practice facility.

“Mashie Golf Institute was designed for local golfers that know they could be better than they currently are. That’s why we offer unlimited access, lessons, practice and play for our members. While playing a virtual round on any of over 1660 courses – potentially against a competitor located halfway around the world – is fun and different, the bottom line for our members is that they are improving their game through practice,” says Chris.

Chris also mentioned that over 100 new courses are added each month.  By our math, you could come out to Mashie Golf Institute every day and never repeat a course, if that’s what you choose.

“I was introduced to golf with the support of my dad and co-owner by participating in First Tee. As I grew up, we often played golf together all over the Grand Strand, while dad was golf director at a local resort.

We have subsequently collaborated with Project Golf, in an effort to introduce golf to more people. Golf means so many things to so many different people – whether it’s the social aspect, the sportsmanship aspect… but we believe strongly that how you play on the course is dictated by the time you spend preparing and practicing. And we believe that people enjoy golf and stick with it when they increase their skill and proficiency.”

Rob adds: “We make access to Mashie Golf Institute affordable and flexible. If you have weekday daytimes available in your personal schedule, you can play unlimited golf between 12 and 4 PM for only $20. During more peak periods, such as evenings and weekends, we have hourly pricing. We also have monthly unlimited play memberships that cover all hours of the day that we are open and all days of the week. People come out in groups and people come out solo – it really doesn’t matter, because what unites the community of members at The Mashie is a love for the game and a desire to improve your skills.”

Chris and Rob both say that they are open to collaborations with area businesses to help promote  each other’s businesses. Mashie Golf Institute can save the day for out of town visitors during a rain-soaked golf trip, but the typical member is a local resident who comes out regularly to practice, either on their own or with a group of friends or family members, looking to get more consistent and improve their overall game.
