Cultural adventure and B-Corp certified tour operator Inside Travel Group, which has InsideAsia and InsideJapan Tours, is now expanding, under the InsideAsia brand, with new tours in India .
Inside Travel Group’s South Asia Program Manager, Jess Andrews, was hired in 2024 to develop the program after working with India for nearly two decades with Ampersand and A&K.
“India is a sleeping giant. It’s a place of almost endless adventure and diversity which has been so underserviced by the majority of the UK travel industry for many years now,” said Andrews. “We have set out to shake up the market and offer cultural adventures with our own ‘Inside Travel’ stamp, aiming to represent this vast country and the variety of culture and people that make it so special.”
Inside Travel Group is now offering twelve new adventures in India across six different regions and 80 different destinations. Tours are operated by specialists who have either traveled extensively or live in India.
One such new itinerary is the Golden Triangle with Udaipur & Shahpura Bagh, a 13-day itinerary visiting Delhi, Agra, Amber, Jaipur and Udaipur. Experiences include watching the sunrise at the Taj Mahal, learn how to cook with a local family in Udaipur, volunteering at a community kitchen at a Sikh temple in Delhi, experience a laughter yoga session and much more.
Holidays to India
Everyone has an idea of ‘India’. Saturday curry nights, the Taj Mahal, the smell of incense, Bollywood tunes. These are glimpses of India in a funhouse mirror: there’s truth in them, but flattened and distorted; stripped of nuance and context. The impression — of one monolithic ‘Indianness’, digestible in a single two-week trip — is an illusion. The reality is far more exciting.
When it comes to the real deal — the living, breathing India — the only constant is change, and the only universality is difference. It can’t fit into a nutshell. It’s snow-scoured mountainscapes, tropical jungle, parched desert and tiger-prowled plains. It’s cities bursting with tech startups and youth culture, but it’s also dirt tracks, ox-drawn carts and wooden handlooms. It’s so many more things you can’t begin to imagine.
Abandon any idea you had about doing it all. Slow down, cover less ground, visit places that don’t feature in the guidebooks. Take the time to make connections, and get to know people. Above all, get ready to rethink everything you thought you knew about India. It’s like absolutely nowhere else on Earth.
