Sports Illustrated Resorts is putting down roots in one of the world’s premier sports destinations – Chicago.
Travel + Leisure Co.’s new hotel brand geared toward sports fanatics and lovers of the iconic magazine is expanding to Chicago, with the latest property expected to be ready by late 2026.
The property will be converted from an existing hotel located in The Loop along the Chicago River, just a block off Michigan Avenue. The hotel will remain open during construction, which will result in 250 guestrooms.
Once completed, the resort’s updated lobby will honor the building’s origins as a historic financial institution by preserving its grand staircase. However, the property will showcase the SI brand through “striking imagery and contemporary, sports-inspired design elements.”
Amenities will include an exclusive owner’s lounge and a signature fitness center in addition to multiple modern food and beverage venues such as a street-level coffee shop, a full-service restaurant and a sports bar.

“Chicago is where legends are made,” Geoff Richards, chief operating officer at Travel + Leisure Co., said in a statement. “With more than 40 championship trophies across 11 professional and college teams, this city breathes sports in a way few places can match, with a passion that runs through generations of fans.”
“With this new resort, we’re creating a destination where that same championship spirit lives year-round, combining the rich storytelling tradition of Sports Illustrated with the unmatched energy that makes Chicago home to some of the world’s most devoted fans,” added Richards.
The new Chicago property joins previously announced locations coming to Nashville, Tennessee and Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
