New in Puerto Rico for 2026

If the sunny island of Puerto Rico is on your to-do list, here is a rundown of whats new in Puerto Rico for 2026.

The island’s tourism industry generated more than $1.7 billion in hotel nights and rentals between January and October of 2025, bringing the local industry ever so close to reaching the $2 billion mark in lodging revenue, according to Discover Puerto Rico. That’s a figure never before recorded in the history of Puerto Rico’s visitor economy.

In addition to the growing interest in Puerto Rico among globetrotters, there are also many new developments on tap for travelers, ranging from hotel openings to fresh adventures and experiences.

From Hilton property openings to unique art and music activations and food festivals, here’s a closer look at what’s on the agenda for Puerto Rico in 2026.

New Hotels

Hampton Inn Hotel and Casino: The $66.7 million Fleming Hotel Hampton Inn Ponce, an eight-story, 130-room property, is slated to open by 2026. The project includes plans for a casino and is part of the 150,000-square-foot Ponce Business Center, which will also feature additional restaurant areas.

The development aims to strengthen the hospitality, business, and tourism infrastructure in Puerto Rico’s southern region. 

Hilton Duo: Hilton is set to debut a dual-brand hotel in San Juan’s Convention District, combining Hampton by Hilton and Homewood Suites by Hilton in a single 175,000‑square-foot tower.

The project will feature 257 guest rooms with other amenities planned, but not yet made public. The development represents a $77 million public-private investment and is part of Hilton’s broader strategy to more than double its presence in Puerto Rico, enhancing the city’s position as a premier hub for business, conventions, and leisure tourism in the Caribbean. 

The hotel is targeted to open in 2026, with timelines and details subject to change as construction progresses. 

Hilton Garden Inn at Dorado: The Hilton Garden Inn Dorado, under development by The Dawn Hotel at Dorado, LLC, is set to open by December 2026. The 120,000‑square-foot property will feature about 153 guest rooms, including a presidential suite, along with planned amenities such as a restaurant, event lounge, rooftop lounge, fitness center, and infinity pool with bar. 

New Experiences

Arte Yunque (October 2025-July 2026): ArteYUNQUE presents RÍO: Cuenca hidrográfica de El Yunque, a new exhibition currently on view along the Ciencia y Conservación trail at El Portal de El Yunque, open to the public through July 18, 2026.

This vibrant showcase brings together internationally acclaimed artists— including Daniel Lind-Ramos, Edra Soto, and Gisela Colón—whose works explore the beauty, depth, and ecological significance of El Yunque’s watershed. With its blend of artistic excellence and environmental storytelling, ArteYUNQUE aims to inspire deeper connections between the community, visitors, and Puerto Rico’s treasured rainforest. 

The Fifth Element Festival (January 7-13, 2026): A seven-day electronic music and arts festival in San Juan, Isla Verde, and Río Grande, Puerto Rico, featuring international DJs and cultural programming. 

Fiestas de la Calle San Sebastián (January 15-18, 2026): The Fiestas de la Calle San Sebastián mark the unofficial closing of the longest holiday season in the world. During the multi-day celebrations, Old San Juan is completely taken over by live music, impromptu dancing on every street corner, and even circus performances.

Carnaval de Ponce (February 2026): The island’s vibrant culture is felt in the festivals that occur throughout the year. One of the most colorful is the traditional Ponce Vejigantes Carnival.

During the three-day celebration, you can enjoy the parade of masks, the coronation of queens and “Rey Momo,” live music, and more. 

James Beard-Tastes America Puerto Rico (March 2026): The James Beard Foundation brings together chefs, special guests, and diners from across the country to celebrate the local independent restaurants at the heart of our communities.

A cohort of chefs, representing 20 markets across the country and known as the TasteTwenty, will host dinners and walk-around tastings spotlighting the breadth and unity of culinary creativity nationwide. 

World Baseball Classic 2026 (March 5-17, 2026): Puerto Rico will host Pool A of the 2026 World Baseball Classic in San Juan at the Hiram Bithorn Stadium, featuring teams including Puerto Rico, Cuba, Canada, Panama, and Colombia. The Boricua team will be led by manager Yadier Molina and captain Francisco Lindor, highlighting Puerto Rico’s deep baseball heritage. 

Puerto Rico Open (March 5-8, 2026): The 2026 Puerto Rico Open will take place in March at the Grand Reserve Golf Club in Río Grande. This event attracts top-level professional golf to the island and highlights Puerto Rico as a destination for world-class sports. 

Puerto Rico Food & Wine Festival (April 2026): A culinary and cultural event in San Juan, the Puerto Rico Food & Wine Festival features top local and international chefs, winemakers, and mixologists for tastings, dinners, and seminars, promoting the island’s cuisine and local products, and education. The festival aims to establish Puerto Rico as a premier food destination, blending high-end events with cultural experiences like traditional street food. 

Puerto Rico Cocktail Week 2026 (Summer 2026): This annual event celebrates the island’s vibrant cocktail culture, bringing together brands, bartenders, and enthusiasts through seminars, guest shifts, competitions, and parties to educate, promote local talent, and support hospitality workers.
