Hurtigruten is launching three new tours for North American travelers, building on the success of its popular portfolio of guided, partially guided and self-guided offerings and adding Iceland to their portfolio.
“Hurtigruten has been the destination immersion experience for Norway, and now your clients can extend that experience with amazing tour options,” says Carly Biggart, head of Hurtigruten Americas. “Whether they want to see the northern lights in as many places as possible, or chase the midnight sun across the Nordics, Hurtigruten truly has something for everyone.”
Hurtigruten Adding Iceland to Portfolio
Launching in July, the new “Grand Nordic Adventure” is a 19-day land and sea voyage that includes Norway, Finland, and for the first time, Iceland. The trip, which starts in Helsinki, includes a rail journey across Finland, a stay at the Santa Claus Hotel, hiking with huskies and learning about the indigenous Sámi people.
The journey also features a six-day southbound Hurtigruten Coastal Express cruise from Kirkenes to Bergen, before flying on to Iceland. Highlights there include Reykjavik, the Blue Lagoon, waterfalls and the UNESCO World Heritage Site Þingvellir National Park.
Another new tour is “Nordic Winter Journey,” a 13-day guided adventure that gives guests an opportunity to experience the northern lights at a remote campe resort in Finnish Lapland, as well as activities like snowmobiling, snowshoeing and sleigh rides. Travelers will also explore Sámi heritage, visit Inari and the SIIDA Museum, cruise the UNESCO-listed Nærøyfjord and ride on the world-famous Flåm Railway. The trip also includes the full southbound Hurtigruten Coastal Express.
The third new offering, “Norway’s Capital and Coast,” is only offered in the summer. Travelers can explore the country’s capital, Oslo, and enjoy a six-day southbound Hurtigruten Coastal Express cruise from Kirkenes to Bergen. The trip also includes numerous UNESCO-listed natural and cultural wonders.
