Building on the success of Perfect Day at CocoCay, Royal Caribbean International plans to build another private destination in Mexico.
Called Perfect Day Mexico, the new location will be located in Mahahual on Mexico’s Caribbean coast. It’s slated to open in 2027.
“Perfect Day at CocoCay has been a game changer for both our guests and our business,” says Jason Liberty, president and chief executive officer of Royal Caribbean Group. “With travelers prioritizing unique experiences and destinations driving their booking decisions, we’re excited to expand our Perfect Day Collection by creating Perfect Day Mexico to super serve guests who want to explore the Western Caribbean.
Perfect Day at CocoCay is the company’s private island destination in The Bahamas. Since opening in 2019, it’s become the cruise company’s most popular destination around the world. Earlier this year, sister brand Celebrity Cruises also began visiting Perfect Day at CocoCay. Royal Caribbean also has a private destination in Labadee, Haiti.
In addition, the company is in the process of developing two new private beach experiences: Royal Beach Club Paradise Island in Nassau, The Bahamas, which is scheduled to debut in 2025; and Royal Beach Club Cozumel, which is slated to open in 2026 in Cozumel, Mexico.
The company says it will provide more details about Perfect Day Mexico in the coming months. But, in the meantime, it did share that the destination will be sustainable and developed in partnership with the local government and community.
“We are very excited that Royal Caribbean has decided to invest in Mahahual, a land of opportunity and hard-working people,” says Mara Lezama, the governor of Quintana Roo, Mexico. “My administration is looking forward to working very closely with the company to ensure a sustainable destination that brings shared prosperity to the region and that our local communities are part of this historic investment. I am sure that guests will be marveled by the beauties that southern Quintana Roo has to offer but most importantly, the kindness of our people.”
