Hotel rewards programs are offering slightly more value compared to last year, but selecting the right program can be challenging.
WalletHub recently compared the nine most popular hotel rewards programs across more than 20 key metrics, including factors such as point values and blackout dates for booking free nights, among others.
The personal finance experts even broke down the data by light, moderate and heavy hotel spending profiles.
Choice Privileges came out on top as the best hotel loyalty program for travelers of all spending levels in 2025, receiving an average score of 64 out of 100.
According to WalletHub, Choice Privileges offers up to $14.49 in rewards value per $100 spent, which is the most among major hotel loyalty programs. That figure applies to heavy travelers, who WalletHub defines as someone making between $100,000 and $200,000 per year who spends $1,865 on hotel accommodations.
However, even a light traveler who makes between $40,000 and $69,999 per year and spends roughly $684 on hotel accommodations can earn $13.10 in rewards value per $100 spent with Choice Privileges.

Trailing Choice Privileges are World of Hyatt and the recently-expanded Wyndham Rewards, while Marriott Bonvoy and Sonesta Travel Pass round out the top five best hotel rewards programs.
While Choice Privileges ranks first for rewards value and status levels, Marriott Bonvoy ranks first for geographic coverage. Meanwhile, Drury Rewards ranks first for earning policies and redemption options.
Despite ranking seventh among the nine programs analyzed, Best Western is the only major hotel chain whose rewards points do not expire due to account inactivity.
What’s more, six of the nine hotel rewards programs allow members to redeem points for award nights across all brands and properties, with Marriott Bonvoy, Choice Privileges and IHG One Rewards being the only exceptions.
